Dehyration Prevention

As the weather heats up it is important that we prevent dehydration by drinking enough fluids. It is important to ensure you have adequate water, sunscreen and protective clothing during the hotter months.

Signs of dehydration can include thirst, dry mouth, headache, dizziness, light headedness, and dark urine.

How much water is enough?

On average people need 1 800 – 2 500mL of fluid per day, but if you are sweating excessively, you will require more.

Tip

You can add flavour to your water by using fresh or frozen fruit, cucumber, mint, lemon or lime juice or a small amount of cordial.

Electrolyte supplementation, like Hydrolyte can be useful at preventing and treating minor dehydration by replacing electrolytes (such as sodium and potassium) lost through sweat, vomiting or diarrhoea. Always make sure to follow the instructions.
