I had the privilege of working as a locum Podiatrist at Karratha Central Healthcare (KCH) while travelling around Australia, and it was by far the best workplace experience in my 16-year career. I still talk about it all the time!

The role offered an incredible breadth of experience – I was able to work across every aspect of Podiatry, from seeing a diverse range of patients in the clinic to providing outreach services to Indigenous communities, which was truly life-changing for me.

One of the standout aspects was working with such a great multidisciplinary team. Everyone was friendly, easy to get along with, and always willing to help each other out. The variety of work was amazing – from treating complex foot conditions, diabetic foot care to general foot care – I was constantly experiencing something different every day.

On top of that, Karratha itself was such a vibrant, welcoming city with so much to offer, making it a great place to live while working there.

I would highly recommend KCH to any Podiatrist – whether you’re a new graduate or highly experienced – as it will be one of the most rewarding experiences of your career. I hope I have the chance to return one day.

– Cameron, Podiatrist

While working as a podiatrist at Karratha Central Healthcare, I enjoyed a mix of general podiatry, biomechanical assessments, and wound care. These services were delivered across diverse settings, including outreach clinics throughout the Pilbara region, centre based clinics in Karratha, and at the Roebourne Aboriginal health service, Mawarnkarra Health Service.

Overall, the experience strengthened my clinical decision-making, adaptability, and cultural sensitivity. It was incredibly rewarding to support patients in managing their foot health.
