First Nations Health Outreach Services

Karratha Central Healthcare is a Not-for-Profit Registered Charity dedicated to providing quality allied health services across the Pilbara.

Operating since 1998 as the Pilbara Health Network, our aim remains to improve the health of our Pilbara communities through comprehensive primary care, allied health and mental health services.

Our team of qualified and experienced allied health clinicians offer a variety of services from tailored therapeutic services for an individual to evidence based programs and workshops to educate groups.

We pride ourselves on our holistic approach to person centred care, including providing choice and control in their services.

We offer Medicare and NDIS funded services, services offered for a fee, and government funded community programs and workshops.

We also offer a variety of locations to best suit our clients and their therapy needs. Whether you see us at one of our Karratha clinics, in another part of the Pilbara during outreach, at home, at school or in the community, we aim to provide consistent care and support.

Every month we have had clinicians travel to Tom Price, Onslow, Bindi Community, Bellary Springs Community, Paraburdoo and Wakathundi Community to provide much needed support and services.

Along with podiatry, dietetics, physiotherapy and diabetes education services our team of clinicians facilitate health education sessions for small groups, previous topics have included; foot care, diabetic wound prevention, stress management, nutrition, food budgeting.

These services are provided free to our Strengthening Aboriginal Health clients and a usual in-clinic appointment fee is charged for all other clients.

First Nations Health Outreach Services

Many communities in regional, rural and remote Western Australia do not have easy access to medical specialists or allied health professionals who can diagnose and treat a variety of illnesses. With funding from Rural Health West we are able to provide our ATSI clients access to specialised medical services which reduces their need to travel long distances to attend a consultation or receive treatment, meaning they can stay close to their home and family.

First Nations Health Outreach Services supports the provision of primary health care multidisciplinary teams to prevent, detect and manage chronic diseases in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island peoples who live in urban, rural, regional and remote communities. Chronic disease is defined as ‘a condition that has been (or is likely to be) present for six months or more’.
